About

Grand Canyon University was founded in 1949 as a non-profit Christian university. The school was originally known as Grand Canyon College, and it was created with the goal of providing students with an affordable education that would allow them to pursue their dreams. The school was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in 1953, and it became a four-year institution in 1961. In 1989, the school changed its name to Grand Canyon University. The school is currently governed by a board of directors, which is made up of industry leaders and education experts.
