Merrit Linke serves as the Grand County Commissioner since January 2013, while also owning Eight Mile Cattle, LLC, a livestock feed distribution company established in April 2001. Eight Mile Cattle specializes in delivering direct bulk sales to ranch accounts, managing wholesale accounts with retail dealerships, and overseeing the care of 300-400 head of "tourist" cattle in a custom grazing program. Merrit Linke earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Secondary Education from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, between 1981 and 1985.
