Ben Garlets

Ben Garlets is an experienced education professional currently serving as a School Renewal Specialist and Teacher at Grand Rapids Public Schools since August 2017. Previously, Ben was a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow with the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation since May 2011 and worked as a Science Teacher at Southwest Region School District from August 2015 to July 2017. Ben's teaching experience includes roles as an Educator/Instructional Coach at K12, a Mathematics Teacher at City High/Middle School, and Mathematics and Science Teacher at Lighthouse Academy Charter School. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University, and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University. Additionally, Ben earned an Occupational Endorsement in Sustainable Energy from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
