Luc Boyer

Manager, Institutional Planning & Research at GRANDE PRAIRIE REGIONAL COLLEGE

Dr. Luc Boyer joined NWP as Manager, Institutional Planning and Research on July 6th, 2020.

Dr. Boyer adds 15 years of combined academic and administrative experience in post-secondary education to the team. He recently held the position of Senior Institutional Analyst, Office of Institutional Analysis, at the University of Calgary. As survey lead, he designed, implemented and managed a suite of survey services for faculty, staff and students, conducted research and advanced data analysis and assisted in the development of strategic metrics to support decision-making for the senior leadership team and other institutional leaders.

Previously, Dr. Boyer was a faculty member of the University Partnership Centre at Georgian College, teaching survey research, research methods, advanced statistics, public sociology and introduction to sociology at the undergraduate level. He has produced, reviewed and analyzed a wide range of social surveys, co-authored in peer-reviewed journals, and served as a member of the departmental research ethics committee, and as student academic advisor.

Dr. Boyer holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Waterloo, with a specialization in survey research (data quality, nonignorable nonresponse, research-on-research), mixed methodology, and applied social statistics. He holds certificates in Big Data and Social Analytics (MIT), Program Evaluation Essential Skills (CES), and Teacher of Adult Education (Centennial). He is also deeply committed to the sociology profession, having served as Communications Officer, Executive Committee (ex-officio), for the Canadian Sociological Association.

Luc thrives on enhancing knowledge and informing decision-making at the strategic, tactical and operational levels. He is passionate about fostering collaboration between government, business and post-secondary institutions.
