Rick Smith

Rick Smith, CPCU has a diverse and extensive work experience in the insurance industry. Rick is currently working as the Chief Insurance Officer at Grange Insurance Association, where they assumed the role in September 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Product Officer at the same company from May 2023 to September 2023. Before joining Grange Insurance Association, Rick worked as the SVP of Agency Distribution at Clearcover from November 2022 to May 2023.

From 2012 to 2022, Rick had a long tenure at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where they held several leadership positions. Rick was the Commercial Lines State Operations Leader until November 2022. Rick also served as the Vice President of Distribution Strategy & Analytics from 2019 to 2021, Vice President of Product Management from 2016 to 2019, and Director/AVP of State Operations from 2012 to 2016.

Rick started their career at Nationwide Insurance in 2002, where they initially worked as an Actuarial Manager until 2005 before transitioning into the role of Product Manager until 2007. After that, they joined Liberty Mutual as the Director of Product Management and worked there until 2011. Rick also had a brief stint at National General Insurance as a Senior Product Manager in the Commercial Lines division from 2011 to 2012.
