David Zhou

Footwear Design Consultant at Gravity Sketch

David Zhou has worked in a variety of roles since 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Mechanical Engineering Intern at GTS Power Technology, where they converted 2D AutoCAD drawings into a 3D SolidWorks Model and identified and corrected beam and support plate inefficiencies. During the same period, they were also a Teaching Assistant at Jonathan Education Center, helping math and science instructors in a classroom environment with high school students. From 2017 to 2019, they were an Engineering and Architectural Designer at Edge+Co, where they coordinated and collaborated with architects, interior designers, and engineers to design HVAC systems in acute healthcare centers across New York and the Tri-state area. In 2019, they were a 3D Footwear Designer at PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy, where they developed a performance shoe concept for adidas and commanded the holistic process of research, ideation, and visualization to 3D model and materialize their concept in Modo. Finally, they are currently a Footwear Design Consultant at Gravity Sketch, where they are learning from and collaborating with PENSOLE instructors and adidas MakerLab mentors to research, ideate, and iterate through solutions for a performance basketball shoe slated for release in 2022.

David Zhou completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2017. David then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) in Design from the same university, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
