Pathologist And Lab Medical Director at Great River Health

Alexander Pederson M.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of pathology. Alexander started their career as a Cytopathology Fellow at Henry Ford Health System in 2007. Alexander then pursued a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Creighton University in 2008. After completing their fellowships, they worked at Premier Pathology Services from 2010 to 2012 as a Pathologist, where they had responsibilities in general surgical pathology and clinical pathology. Alexander joined the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012 as a Pathologist/Blood Bank Fellow, where they supervised blood donation and processing procedures, and oversaw patient testing and distribution of blood products. From 2015 to 2017, they worked at Litton Pathology Associates as a Pathologist, specializing in surgical pathology and cytopathology, as well as serving as a Hospital Lab Director. Alexander then moved on to MAWD Pathology Group in 2017 as a Pathologist, where they mainly focused on surgical pathology sign-out and served as the Infection Control Committee Chair for one hospital. Alexander is currently employed at Great River Health Systems as a Pathologist and Lab Medical Director, starting in December 2017.

Alexander Pederson M.D. graduated from the University of Iowa in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, majoring in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. Alexander then attended the University of Nebraska College of Medicine from 1997 to 2001 and obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in the field of Medicine. Alexander Pederson M.D. has also obtained several additional certifications in various specialties, such as Cytopathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Alexander holds permanent medical licenses in multiple states, including Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Michigan.
