Ammar al Asaad

Ammar Al Asaad is a highly experienced professional in urban design, currently serving as Principal Urban Design Officer at Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service since September 2019, following a role as Senior Urban Design Officer. Ammar holds the position of Fellow at The RSA until May 2025 and previously worked as an Urban Designer at DPDS Consulting Group from August 2017 to August 2019. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Design and a Master of Science in Research in the Built Environment from Heriot-Watt University, along with a Master of Arts in Urban Design from Damascus University. Research conducted during doctoral studies focused on integrating new developments within historical contexts, specifically analyzing case studies from Edinburgh and York. Early experience includes positions as a Teaching Assistant at Tishreen University and as an Architect & Urban Designer at Al-Hamrat Office for Design and Construction.
