Steve Kaufman

Steve joins the Greater Good Charities team as Vice President, Operations for the GOODS Program. In this role he assists in developing and executing strategies that will support the GOODS Program product delivery to areas of the most need.

Steve began his career in animal welfare in 1990 at a small, rural shelter in mid-Missouri. From there, his passion for both pets and people lead him to a 30-year career in the industry, providing leadership and mentorship for teams of ardent animal advocates at animal shelters large and small.

Beyond direct animal care, Steve expanded his career to include strategic grant making and foundation work, leading a team of professional grant makers for one of the largest funders in animal welfare, PetSmart Charities. In this role, Steve oversaw an international adoption program that, during his six-year tenure, funded over $100M in programs that assisted in bringing and keeping people and pets together, and that placed over 500,000 pets annually.

Steve enjoys viewing challenges through a large lens and building teams that work collaboratively to create and execute achievable strategies. With this big-picture view, he strives to reach goals that assist in driving both programmatic and systemic change.
