Eric M. Carrero

Eric M. Carrero, USCG CAPT, Ret, serves as the President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau since June 2023, focusing on collaborative efforts to enhance the port region. With extensive experience in the U.S. Coast Guard, Eric held key positions including Director of Western Rivers and Waterways, Commanding Officer of the Marine Safety Unit in Texas City, and Chief of the Prevention Department overseeing safety and security in the busiest U.S. port complex. In previous roles, Eric managed domestic inspections and safety regulations, ensured international port security compliance, and led marine casualty investigations. Eric holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Policy from American Military University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
