Scott Walker is the President & CEO at Greater Lafayette Commerce. Scott has over fifteen years of experience in economic development and has successfully negotiated incentive packages with the State of Michigan to attract over $1 billion in new, high tech investment, creating over 2,000 new jobs. Scott has also initiated and secured $16.1 million in grants and tax capture for new programs for the company.
Scott has launched unique, award winning, collaborative global marketing campaigns with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Great Lakes Economic Development Partnership. Scott also testified in front of legislators and committees in Lansing, MI, and Washington DC on behalf of the local community and major corporations. Scott has also successfully interface with Michigan DEQ, US EPA, and local units of government in permitting applications and site plans for major chemical and electric generation projects.
In addition, they have conducted National and International business attraction events and trips in US, China, Japan, and EU. Scott also serves on numerous directors boards and chaired the $15 Million Mid-Michigan WIRED Grant Steering Committee and lead the strategic plan development. Scott also is responsible for the direct sales and management of two 100-acre Industrial Parks, and a 500 acre mega site.
Scott has establish metrics for the organization based upon real workforce and demographic statistics. Scott has also implemented Customer Relationship Management tools to manage data for the organization. Scott works effectively with diverse 48-member Board of Directors, including 15-member Executive Board, to develop and implement 3-year plans. Scott Walker has a MBA in Business Administration and Management from Michigan State University - Eli Broad College of Business, a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Kettering University, and is certified as an Economic Developer from the International Economic Development Council, as a Certified Economic Gardening Consultant from the Edward Lowe Foundation Center for Economic Gardening, as a Certified Small Business Consultant from MI-SBTDC, and as a Six Sigma Black Belt from TRW Automotive.
