Tom Coffey

Mayoral Health Advisor at Greater London Authority

Tom Coffey OBE joined the Mayor’s Office as Senior Advisor to the Mayor, Health Policy in 2016. Tom is a GP, Clinical Lead for Mental Health and Children’s Services at Wandsworth CCG and the Joint-Clinical Lead for Emergency Care NHS England (London). He also works in A&E in Charing Cross Hospital and is a GP advisor to the Battersea Healthcare social enterprise.

He has extensive experience of the NHS, from his role as GP and has substantial knowledge of improving clinical commissioning and the performance of primary care services in London.

Tom will work alongside City Hall’s Health Policy Team and will offer insight to the Mayor on frontline NHS services. Tom’s remit includes: providing health policy advice to the Mayor on an ongoing basis and working closely with the Mayor’s Statutory Health Adviser on matters relating to health policy.

He will also support the Mayoral Director of Policy in work on health policy, and delivering the Mayoral commitments on health.

Tom is also leading on health and care devolution and attending the quarterly meeting of the London Health Board, as well as providing advice on health policy, health inequalities and the impact on Londoners.

Tom was awarded the OBE in the 2009 New Year’s Honours list. He is a season ticket holder at Chelsea F.C.
