David Hyman

David is the founding head of school at the Academy of Thought and Industry in the East Village of Manhattan, NY. For more than 20 years, David has been an educator in New York City and New England. His work with young people has always focused on empowering them to improve their world and the lives of those around them. David has held a number of interesting and varied jobs over the years. He was a carpenter and contractor in Western Massachusetts where he ran a world renowned artist’s studio. David has worked in blue collar, white collar, and prior to his returning to New York, in a “new collar” role as the President of the Center for Technology and Workforce Solutions – a Washington DC based think tank focused on technology workforce issues. He currently resides in the Lower East Side with his wife, also an accomplished educator.
