Ruth Maust

Project Manager, Sustainable Packaging Coalition at GreenBlue

Dr. Ruth Maust joined GreenBlue in September 2021 as a Project Manager with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition. Ruth is passionate about using the tools of chemistry to solve sustainability problems – for instance, chemistry gives us ways to transform waste materials into valuable new feedstocks and products! Ruth earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon, with a research focus on polymers built from precise carbon nanostructures. She not only synthesized new molecules and materials, she also studied how changes on the molecular scale can be used to adjust the properties of a material as a whole. During this time, Ruth also pursued opportunities in innovation, green chemistry, and promoting scientific research through art. Prior to her Ph.D., Ruth worked in green building education and the paints & coatings industry. She holds a BA in Chemistry from Eastern Mennonite University.
