Diarra joined GreenLight Fund in March 2021, bringing with her a passion for social justice and systems change as well as experience in both research and advocacy.
Most recently, Diarra worked as an Organizing Fellow for Our Turn, an organization that strives to center the voices of youth in the fight for education justice. In this role, she worked to engage youth proximate to the issues created by education inequity and to provide opportunities for leadership development as students pushed for seats and inclusion at the decision-making table.
Prior to Our Turn, Diarra worked as a Research Assistant for the Minnesota House of Representatives’ Research Department while earning her Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Minnesota. While in school, Diarra strived to make sure that student voices, particularly BIPOC student voices, were being heard and prioritized as the student government’s Career and Curriculum Officer. In that role, she encouraged faculty to be intentional about creating curricula that are inclusive and diverse.
These experiences have enhanced Diarra’s passion for work centered around authentic community partnership and engagement. She is excited to continue being a part of the fight to make the world a more just and equitable place in connection with people most impacted by injustice.
