Tyler Bray

Senior Software Engineer at Gretel.ai

Tyler Bray is a senior software engineer at Gretel.ai. Tyler has previously worked at Amazon Web Services from April 2016 to January 2020, where they were a software development engineer. Tyler was deeply involved in launching AWS Macie and helped re-architect the data ingestion process to take advantage of AWS infrastructure and reduce the Ops burden. Tyler also set up and stubbed out a lot of code for the launch of Macie, including setting up a rudimentary test suite and sphinx documentation.

After the launch of Macie, Tyler transitioned to working primarily on the S3 Data Classifier. A lot of their work around this involved making sure that the Classifier could scale and be as robust as possible in the face of varied inputs. There was also a fair amount of work making sure that it integrated seamlessly with other parts of the system, both for feeding data into it and making sure that the data it wrote out would not be lost in the case of any service disruptions. Tyler also worked closely with a team of NLP experts, making sure that they had what they needed to perform well and also making sure that the team stayed on track and did not deviate from business goals.

In addition to direct coding, Tyler also does a lot of mentoring/managing, code reviewing, contributing to architectural decisions, interfacing with business types to make sure products are actually being built that people want, and generally being a good rubber ducky.

Tyler Bray's educational career includes a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

They work with Jan Schwoebel - Head, CX & Solutions Engineering, Nikko Kolean - Senior Software Engineer, and Rob Stark - Software Engineer. Their manager is John Myers, Co-Founder & CTO.
