Jim Reich has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 1996 as a Member of Research Staff at the Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center. There, they prototyped control systems and simulations for the Webb space telescope, and led the control systems team in the development of the world's first strapdown antimissile system. In 1998, they moved to PARC, where they served as Area Manager of Embedded Collaborative Computing. During their time at PARC, they developed systems such as microphone array-based systems for automatic realtime facilitation of meetings, ceiling-mounted video sensor networks for tracking people and activities, vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems and algorithms for automotive collision avoidance, and more. In 2007, they joined Streetline, Inc. as Vice President of Engineering, where they worked on the largest wireless sensor networks ever built. In 2014, they co-founded Cinder Precision Cooker, where they led the engineering team and focused on novel sensing, inference and control algorithms, as well as food science and thermal analysis. Finally, in 2016, they joined Alio as Vice President of Engineering, where they worked on bringing the Internet of Things to the human body.

Jim Reich attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned a BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering with a specialization in Avionics. Jim then attended Carnegie Mellon University, where they earned an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2015, they participated in the Y Combinator program.
