Jessica Rudd

Board Member at Griffith University

Jessica Rudd is an alumnus of the University, having graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (Politics and Policy) in 2006. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Solicitor in 2007 and began her career as a media and IP lawyer.

Jess later moved to London to work as an issues and crisis management consultant for a global communications firm and then Beijing where she spent 5 years working as a novelist, columnist and media commentator while learning Mandarin.

Her time in China culminated in the 2015 launch of Jessica’s Suitcase, an Alibaba Tmall Global store which offers high quality Australian and New Zealand products direct to Chinese consumers through online cross-border channels. As a pioneer Australian retailer on Tmall Global, Jess was appointed Alibaba’s first Australia and New Zealand Lifestyle Ambassador. In 2018, Jessica completed the sale of Jessica’s Suitcase to the then ASX-listed eCargo Holdings, on whose board she served as non-executive director.

Jess has served as non-executive director on the board of Australian Agricultural Company (ASX:AAC) since 2018 and joined the Griffith University Council in 2020. She is co-chair of the National Apology Foundation.
