Javier Montes

Javier Montes has a strong background in information technology operations and infrastructure. Javier is currently working as the Director of Information Technology Operations at Gritstone bio since February 2023. Before this role, they were the Associate Director of IT Operations at the same company from April 2020 to February 2023. Prior to joining Gritstone bio, Javier worked at Intarcia Therapeutics, Inc. from 2015 to 2020. Javier started as the Senior IT Infrastructure Manager and later became the Associate Director of IT Infrastructure. At Intarcia, they were responsible for managing the IT infrastructure, including servers, network, business systems, and ensuring capacity, availability, and compliance. Javier also developed IT infrastructure roadmaps and utilized ITIL and GAMP standards for effective management. Javier's previous experience includes roles at Novartis, JC Automation, Cordis, Conor Medsystems, and Novartis again.

Javier Montes obtained a Business Certification from UC Berkeley Extension from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Universidad Interamericana de San German Puerto Rico, which they completed between 1999 and 2004. In addition to their formal education, Javier Montes also holds various certifications, including "Cybersecurity and Its Ten Domains" from Coursera in 2020, "AWS Fundamentals: Going Cloud-Native" from Coursera in 2019, "Level 2 Sumo Power user" and "SumoLogic Pro User" from Sumo Logic in 2019, and several others.
