Amir Najian, Ph.D., is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Gro Intelligence since 2021. Prior to that, they worked at RMS from 2015 to 2021 as a Senior Data Scientist. In this role, they researched and developed machine learning solutions to identify address matches and predict the impact of uncertainties in geocoding results on property losses caused by floods. Amir also discovered patterns in geocoding errors using clustering algorithms.
From 2018 to 2019, Amir was the Co-founder and Head of Data Science at Caliber Data Labs. Amir built and led the data science team and developed a machine learning text classifier for ehsAI.
During their time as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Dallas from 2012 to 2016, Amir conducted research on spatial patterns of human walking behavior and built a machine learning model to predict uncertainty in pedestrian navigation.
Before that, Amir worked at various consulting firms from 2006 to 2011 as a Geospatial Development Manager. In this role, they developed applications to automate geospatial analysis tasks and led GIS departments, supervising a team and conducting interviews.
Overall, Amir Najian, Ph.D., has a strong background in machine learning, geocoding, and spatial analysis, and has held roles in both industry and academia.
Amir Najian, Ph.D. has a comprehensive education background in geospatial information sciences and civil engineering. Amir obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Geospatial Information Sciences from The University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tehran.
In addition to their formal education, Dr. Najian has also acquired additional certifications. In September 2015, they received certification in "NASA Remote Sensing Observations for Flood Management" from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Amir also obtained a certification in "Introduction to Remote Sensing for Conservation Management" from the same institution in August 2015.
