About the Role

The Associate Director, Business Development UK & Europe, will be responsible for supporting Grok’s global growth, including within the UK and European higher education sector. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, UK & Europe, the role will focus on helping Grok’s global Business Development team achieve ambitious sales targets, providing leadership on sales operations, event management, and tender writing and management. The position will also work closely with the Director, Business Development, UK & Europe, to advance Grok’s growth in the UK in particular.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with significant experience in international student recruitment and a deep understanding of the UK higher education landscape. You will also be a skilled communicator, both verbal and written, and possess a strong self-discipline and high attention to detail. A spirit of collaboration is essential, as the role requires regular collaboration and interaction with colleagues across the Business Development team and the wider organization. 

As a growing company, we encourage all members of the management team to take initiative and be involved in broader initiatives. As such, the Associate Director will also be expected to serve as the Relationship Coordinator (Grok’s version of account management) for 2-3 Grok client institutions in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Operations: Manage aspects of the global sales operation, including tracking key metrics, maintaining CRM systems, overseeing sales materials, and using data to analyse the sales pipeline.

  • Tender Writing and Management: Manage tender processes globally, lead internal coordination across the organisation to collect data and information, and craft compelling and persuasive content.

  • Networking and Events Management: Represent Grok at industry conferences and events relevant to the UK higher education sector to expand our network, identify leads, and build relationships with potential clients. Manage logistical planning for Grok’s attendance at major industry conferences and events in the UK, the USA, Canada, and Australia.

  • Lead Generation: Proactively identify and qualify potential leads through various channels, including events, conferences, research, and targeted outreach.

  • Consultative Selling: Develop strong relationships with prospective clients in the UK, gain a deep understanding of their needs, and strategically present Grok’s solutions to achieve positive outcomes for both Grok and the client.

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans to drive business growth within the UK market and achieve sales targets.

Essential Background:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of work experience in international student recruitment and/or a sales or business development role focused on the UK higher education sector.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK higher education landscape, including a solid grounding in international student recruitment practices.

  • Industry Networking Expertise: A talent for fostering strong relationships with key decision-makers within the higher education sector.

  • Persuasive Writing Skills: Demonstrated aptitude in synthesizing information and communicating a well-reasoned and thoughtful position in writing. Ability to balance succinctness with the depth of detail to support your position.

  • Consultative Selling Skills: Demonstrated aptitude in consultative selling, with a focus on listening to prospects, understanding their needs, and crafting tailored strategies that align with their goals.

  • Relationship Management Skills: Excellent communication and relationship management skills to effectively interact with clients, executive management, and other team members at Grok.

  • Highly Collaborative and Adaptable: Desire and willingness to be an integral part of a diverse, growing, and busy management team, contributing actively to the organization's success.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
