Alex Burgis

Alex Burgis has a diverse work experience background that spans across various industries. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Group Director of Operations at Ground Control, where they manage the Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD) communication portfolio and ensure the seamless implementation of tracking and IoT/M2M communication systems.

Before joining Ground Control, Alex served as the Interim Manager at YB Tracking, where they played a crucial role in spearheading the company's post-COVID recovery and sustainable growth. They fostered strong relationships with key accounts and customers, streamlined operations, and ventured into new markets by collaborating with partner businesses.

Alex also held the position of Head of Customer Experience at Rock Seven (now Ground Control), where they focused on delivering technical support, monitoring performance, and improving service delivery. Additionally, they served as the General Manager at YB Tracking, directing various operational aspects, exceeding sales and revenue targets, and cultivating new business partnerships for continuous growth.

Furthermore, Alex has prior experience as a Delivery First Mate/Skipper, Website Developer + Graphic Designer, Phlebotomist and Healthcare Assistant at the NHS, Studio Manager at Tattoos to the Max, and Sales Manager at e-Computing (internet cafe).

Alex Burgis attended Chestnut Grove School from 1994 to 1999, followed by The Open University from 2005 to 2006, where they completed a foundation degree in Humanities and German. Later, Alex pursued a BSc Hons degree in Navigation and Maritime Science from the University of Plymouth from 2011 to 2014.
