Andrea Barraza-Urbina

Andrea Barraza-Urbina is a Senior Data Scientist at Grubhub since December 2021 and a PhD Research Student at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics since June 2014. The focus of research includes recommender systems in dynamic environments, emphasizing the balance between exploiting known user models and exploring user preferences. Andrea has held various positions, including Graduate Researcher for an industry project with Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Graduate Student Intern working on diversification techniques for recommender systems, and Researcher Intern at IBM Research Africa developing solutions for government policy recommendations. Andrea's early experience includes designing electronic health record systems at San Ignacio Hospital and developing educational platforms at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Galway, a Master’s in Systems and Computer Engineering, and an Engineer's degree in Systems Engineering, all from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
