Alvar Lumberg

Alvar Lumberg has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and positions. Alvar co-founded Grunfin in 2020 and currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer. Prior to that, they worked as a Startup Advisor at Shuhari OÜ, where they provided guidance on software engineering and team building to startups and corporates. From 2013 to 2020, Alvar held multiple leadership positions at TransferWise, including Director of Engineering for the Customer Support Tribe, Platform and Infrastructure, and the Machine Learning and Analytics Platform. Alvar also served as an Engineering Lead for KYC and Conversion and Experience at TransferWise. In 2015, Alvar co-founded Refresh Conference, an event aimed at bringing together digital media creatives, designers, and front-end developers. Alvar was also a lecturer and co-founder of the Design and Development of Virtual Environments Master's Program at the University of Tartu from 2011 to 2013. Alvar's early work experience includes roles as a coder, consultant, coach, and co-owner at Codeborne, a software development company, and as a team lead and software architect at Swedbank, where they worked on developing CRM and credit scoring software. Alvar also had a role as a wizard at cafe.ee, managing an online community chatroom. Alvar started their career as a developer at Nokia Networks and later worked as a developer at Infobahn.
