Rene Bustamante

Rene Bustamante has extensive experience in the copper industry, starting in 2002 with an internship at Honeywell in Chile. Rene then worked as an intern at the Los Pelambres Copper mine, where they conducted cost analyses and worked on a drilling equipment project. In 2004, Rene joined the Chilean Department of Mines, where they conducted a global study on the benefits of developing a mining cluster in Central Chile. Rene then moved on to major copper producers Phelps Dodge Corporation and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., where they held roles in international sales and commercial management. In 2015, Rene joined ASARCO as a Manager for Commercial & Logistics, before transitioning to their current role as the Head of Copper Sales and Deputy Commercial Director at Grupo México. In this role, they manage the refined copper corporate commercial team and oversees marketing operations in North America, South America, and Europe. Overall, Rene Bustamante has demonstrated expertise and leadership in the copper industry throughout their career.

Rene Bustamante attended Trewhela's English School from 1985 to 1997, where they completed their elementary, middle, and high school education. Rene then went on to Universidad de Chile from 1998 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on International Business. In 2014, they participated in the Global Leadership Certificate Program at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Rene pursued further education at Grand Canyon University from 2015 to 2016, obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Business Administration and Management. Lastly, in 2018, they completed the Leadership Program in Organizational Leadership at the University of Arizona - Eller College of Management.
