Lena (Carol) Stringari

Deputy Director and Andrew W. Mellon Chief Conservator at Guggenheim Foundation

Lena Stringari has extensive work experience in the field of conservation. Lena started their career at The Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1986 as an Associate Conservator. In 1992, they joined the Guggenheim Museum, where they worked as a Senior Conservator until 2008. At the Guggenheim, they later became the Deputy Director and Mellon Foundation Chief Conservator. In 2009, Stringari also took on a role as an Adjunct Professor at New York University, which lasted until 2019.

Lena Stringari completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History at the University of Pennsylvania before pursuing a Master of Science in Art Conservation at the Winterthur Museum/University of Delaware from 1984 to 1987.
