Maya Newman

Aquarist at Guided Discoveries

Maya Newman is an experienced marine science educator with a strong background in biology and environmental studies. Currently serving as a Marine Science Instructor at Guided Discoveries since May 2022, Maya facilitates educational outdoor experiences for school groups, focusing on marine science and conservation. Previous roles include an Aquarium Intern at the Maria Mitchell Association, where responsibilities encompassed curating display tanks, conducting education tours, and performing fieldwork. Maya gained additional laboratory experience at Denison University as a Glassware and Stockroom Laboratory Preparatory Assistant, Biology Departmental Tutor, and Lab Teaching Assistant. Prior to these positions, Maya honed leadership skills as a Camp Counselor at YMCA Camp Ernst. Maya holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Denison University.
