Leah MacNichol began as an administrative assistant for the Marine Resource Education Program (MREP) in March, 2020.
Having already completed a BA in Sociology with a philosophy minor, Leah is now pursuing her Master's degree at the Muskie School of Public Policy with a focus on sustainable development at the University of Southern Maine.
She comes to GMRI after running the front office of the Maine Yacht Center in Portland, ME for eight years. While there, she enjoyed managing customer relations, interacting with marine stakeholders, and learning about what it takes to help small businesses grow in a healthy way.
When she is not sailing, hosting get togethers, or scouring the history sections of local bookstores, she will be supporting the MREP program with event planning and execution, managing registration and contact databases, and assisting with program finances.
Born and raised in Portland, Maine, she could not be more excited to contribute to the legacy of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
