Maibe Ponet has a diverse and extensive work experience in communications and public relations. Their most recent role was as the VP for Communications and Publications at the Guttmacher Institute since November 2019. Prior to that, they worked at the NYC Office of the Mayor as the Deputy Communications Director and Senior Communications Advisor on Health and Human Services from May 2018 to November 2019.

Before joining the Mayor's office, Ponet served as the Chief Communications Officer and Senior Communications Advisor at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from January 2016 to April 2018. Maibe provided leadership to the Communications Division and oversaw various teams, including press, marketing, publications, translation, and language access.

Ponet also worked at the NYC Office of the Mayor as a Communications Advisor and Deputy Press Secretary from January 2014 to December 2015. Maibe had management responsibilities and provided consultative advice to the mayor and deputy mayor on various issues.

Their earlier career involved roles at the YMCA of Greater New York as the Senior Director of Digital Innovation, El Diario La Prensa as the Opinion and Editorial Page Editor, the NYC Department of Education as a Digital Communications Expert, the NYC Office of the Public Advocate as a Press Secretary, the NYC Department of Education as a Deputy Press Secretary, and the Manhattan Borough President's Office as a Press Secretary.

Throughout their career, Ponet has shown a strong ability to provide strategic direction, manage relationships, and effectively communicate across different platforms and channels.

From 2007 to 2009, Maibe Ponet pursued a Master's degree in Public and Urban Policy at The New School.
