Jéimar Arias Vélez

Jéimar Arias Vélez has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Starting from 1983, they worked as a Programador at Acesco - Acerías de Colombia until 1988. From 1989 to 1993, they served as an Analista de Sistemas at Corporacion Financiera del Oriente, where they were responsible for system analysis, design, and programming. From 1993 to 1999, Jéimar worked as a Jefe de Desarrollo at Banco UCONAL S.A., overseeing different system development projects and defining functional specifications.

In 1999, Jéimar joined Banestado as a Jefe de Proyectos de Desarrollo, responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, and coordinating development requirements. Jéimar also successfully improved the Cobis Cartera system's closing process, significantly reducing the time required.

From 2003 to 2008, Jéimar served as the Director de Informatica y Tecnologia at CONFEDERACION DE COOPERATIVAS DE COLOMBIA. Their responsibilities included elaborating the strategic plan for information technologies, evaluating development projects, leading information technology projects, and managing the division's technological and human resources. Jéimar achieved notable success in designing and developing a benchmarking and financial analysis system using UML and Delphi/Firebird.

From 2009 to 2011, Jéimar worked as the Gerente de Servicios de TI at Refinancia S.A.S., a Colombian financial services company focused on recovering debts. Jéimar was responsible for defining technology service processes aligned with the company's benefit.

At Valemas, Jéimar held two significant roles. From 2011 to 2021, they served as the Director de Desarrollo / Operaciones, fulfilling roles as a solutions architect, data architect, and C#/.Net developer. Jéimar defined development methodologies to generate value for the company quickly and efficiently. From 2021 to 2022, Jéimar became the Director de Data y Análitica / DataOps, where they focused on implementing a data-driven approach aligned with the company's strategy.

Currently, Jéimar works as a Tech Lead en la infraestructura Habicredit at Habi, starting in 2023. In this role, they guide development teams, ensures the use of best practices, and facilitates the development team's members.

Jéimar Arias Vélez has a diverse education history. In 1984, they started their undergraduate studies at Universidad INCCA de Colombia, where they pursued a degree in Ingeniería de sistemas. Jéimar completed their degree in 1991.

In 2005, Jéimar enrolled in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, undertaking an Especialización en Estadistica (Specialization in Statistics), which they completed in 2006.

Continuing their education in recent years, Jéimar participated in various online programs and courses. Jéimar completed an online program on "Transformación Digital: Tecnologías y sus aplicaciones prácticas" offered by MIT Professional Education in 2020.

Also in 2020, Jéimar earned a Professional Certificate in Digital Transformation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology through their edX platform. Jéimar completed courses on "Digital Transformation: Strategy," "Digital Transformation: Market and Industry Analysis," and "Digital Transformation: Leadership" through KTHx.

Jéimar also studied "Knowledge Management and Big Data in Business" through an online course offered by Hong Kong Polytechnic University on edX in 2020.

Apart from their academic pursuits, Jéimar has attained additional certifications. Notably, they hold the "AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty" certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which they obtained in May 2022. Jéimar also obtained the "AWS Certified Developer - Associate" certification in August 2021 and the "AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner" certification in August 2020, all from AWS.

Additionally, Jéimar obtained a certification in "Knowledge Management & Big Data in Business" from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University edX in May 2020.

In 2009, they participated in a seminar on ITIL offered by GETRONICS, although no specific degree was obtained from this program.
