Shawn Foster

Vp, Children's Sales at Hachette Book Group

Shawn Foster has extensive work experience in the publishing industry. Shawn began their career at Little, Brown and Company in 1992, where they worked as a Field Sales Representative and later as a Trade Sales Coordinator. In these roles, they managed sales conferences, participated in industry events, and serviced independent bookstores.

In 2001, Shawn joined Time Warner Trade Publishing as a National Account Representative. Shawn then moved to Time Warner Book Group in 2002, where they worked as a National Account Manager.

Since 2004, Shawn has been with Hachette Book Group. Shawn started as a Sales Director, responsible for managing relationships with key accounts such as Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Walmart, Target, and Club accounts. Shawn also served as a liaison between the sales forces at Hachette and various children's publishers. In 2018, Shawn was promoted to Executive Director of Children's Sales, and later to VP of Children's Sales in 2023. Shawn'sresponsibilities in these roles include overseeing the national account managers, coordinating seasonal previews, and managing coop advertising pools.

Shawn Foster pursued higher education starting from 1986 to 1990 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During this period, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a focus on English Language and Literature/Letters. In 1990, Shawn also attended The University of Denver's Publishing Institute Summer Program, which was a short-term program but did not lead to any specific degree or field of study.
