Elling began their career at Arrow Electronics as a Field Application Engineer from February 1995 to September 1998. Elling then moved on to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, where they worked as a Hardware Designer, specializing in analog and digital circuit design, analog simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Elling was also involved in CPLD design and assembly programming during their time there, from September 1998 to September 2001.
Following their role at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Elling joined VMETRO as a Hardware Designer. In this position, they focused on the specification, implementation, verification, and documentation of FPGA function blocks. Elling also worked on the development of PCI-X and PCIe protocol checkers and bus exercisers. Additionally, they were responsible for low-level FPGA design, including floor-planning and manual place and route for performance optimization. Elling worked at VMETRO from September 2001 to February 2007.
After VMETRO, Elling joined Idex asa as a Hardware Designer, working on hardware design projects. Elling was responsible for various tasks related to circuit design, simulation, and PCB layout. Elling worked at Idex asa from February 2007 to April 2008.
In 2008, Elling joined Data Respons as a Senior Development Engineer, contributing to the development of embedded software, hardware, and FPGA designs. Elling held this role until May 2012 when they were promoted to R&D Manager at Data Respons' Asker office.
