Ben Halstead

Ben Halstead has a diverse work experience in various roles. Ben currently holds positions as a Research Fellow at The University of Auckland and as a Data Scientist at Halter, starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Machine Learning Researcher at Envico Technologies from September 2021 to March 2022. Ben also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Auckland from March 2020 to November 2021. Ben previously worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Nebula Data from 2019 to January 2021. In addition, Ben has worked as a Research and Development Engineer at The University of Auckland from November 2015 to February 2018. Ben has interned at Google as a Software Engineer Intern, focusing on C++ and working on the Google Places API backend from November 2016 to February 2017. Furthermore, Ben has experience as a Software Engineer at Coveroo, where they developed an image composition program and web-based tools. Ben also worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Hangtime, where they used Node.js for back-end server development.

Ben Halstead completed their Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at The University of Auckland from 2014 to 2017. Ben then pursued an additional year of study in Computer Science, earning a Bachelor of Science (honours) in 2018. Following this, Ben pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at The University of Auckland from 2019 to 2022.
