Nicky Walsh

Head of Design at Halter

Nicky Walsh has a diverse work experience in the field of design. Nicky currently holds the position of Head of Design at Halter, starting in February 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Principal Designer at Halter from August 2022 to February 2023.

From 2017 to 2022, Nicky worked at Serko Ltd. where they held the role of Head of Design. During their tenure, they were responsible for developing a consistent approach to product design for the flagship product, Zeno. Nicky successfully scaled the team from 1 to 12 Product Designers and Researchers.

Before joining Serko Ltd., Nicky co-founded Curate.co.nz in 2013. Curate was an online marketplace that allowed New Zealand brands to sell their products seamlessly. Nicky served as a Co-founder until March 2020.

Nicky worked as a Senior User Experience Designer at Purple Shirt from June 2014 to August 2019. Purple Shirt's work involved user-centered design, research, and prototypes for clients such as Air New Zealand and Vitality Works.

Nicky also gained experience as the Lead Designer & Brand Manager at Designer Wardrobe NZ from September 2015 to March 2016. Designer Wardrobe is a social marketplace for women to buy, sell, and rent pre-loved designer fashion.

Starting their career in 2010, Nicky worked at Designworks Ltd. in various roles. Nicky began as a Designer from March 2010 to November 2010, and later transitioned to the position of UI/UX Designer from November 2010 to June 2014. Their responsibilities included working on digital media projects, from research and strategy to designing user interfaces for mobile, web, and inflight entertainment systems.

Nicky Walsh obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Design from Auckland University of Technology, where they studied from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, Nicky has a certification in "Build. Measure. Learn. Lean Startup SXSW 2012." from Udemy, but the specific date of completion is not provided.
