Stewart Adamson

Assistant Chief Officer at Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service

Stewart joined Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service in 1999, training at Eastleigh before being posted to St Mary’s Fire Station in Southampton. After promotion, he served at operational stations in Waterlooville, Copnor in Portsmouth and then Redbridge, Southampton. He moved to a more specialist technical fire safety inspecting officer role and also established work to promote and use sprinklers in higher risk multiple occupancy buildings and worked alongside landlords, local authorities and national sprinkler providers to achieve this.

He has held a number of roles across all disciplines at HQ and at St Mary’s as Station Manager. As an operational commander, he has attended numerous incidents during his career including at places such as hospitals, high rise buildings and onboard ships, and he is now the National Fire Chief’s Council’s (NFCC) lead for maritime incidents.

In 2016, Stewart led the Blue Light collaboration work within Hampshire, working closely with Police and Ambulance colleagues to further joint operational working. He is now Assistant Chief Officer responsible for Operations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Stewart has a Master’s in Business Administration and is a qualified company director and member of the Institute of Directors (IOD). In 2017, Stewart graduated from the UK Fire and Rescue Service Executive Leadership Programme (ELP).
