Anas Malkawi has a diverse work experience. Anas worked at HRSD as the Chief of Asset Management, where they were responsible for overseeing an engineering division, developing and implementing an Asset Management Program, and administering a Computerized Maintenance Management System. Prior to that, they worked as an Interceptor Engineer at HRSD, where they focused on design, construction management, maintenance, and infrastructure planning for wastewater conveyance systems. Anas also worked as an Engineering Technician at HRSD, where they utilized CAD, GIS, and field surveying methods to solve technical problems and provide strategic direction for the effective use of spatial data.

Before joining HRSD, Anas had a long career with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Anas served as a Senior Technical Engineer, overseeing construction site development, surveying, drafting, and inspection. Anas was also involved in major projects such as Operation Unified Response in Haiti after the earthquake, where they conducted base camp designs, bridge damage assessments, and route recon missions. Prior to that, they served as a Geodetic Surveyor, where they collected and disseminated topographic/geodetic survey data for various engineering and mapping functions. Anas had key assignments such as the Haditha Dam Deformation Survey, airport surveys in Iraq, and training Iraqi engineers for the transfer of authority of the Iraqi Geospatial Reference System project.

Anas also briefly worked at the US Department of Defense as an Arabic Linguist and Culture Analyst.

Anas Malkawi has a diverse educational background in various fields. In 2000, they obtained a Diploma in Basic Geodetic Survey from the National Geospatial-Intelligence College. Anas furthered their education in geospatial technology and completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at Old Dominion University from 2010 to 2012.

In 2006, Anas earned a Diploma in Advanced Geodetic Survey from the National Geospatial-Intelligence College. Anas also obtained a Diploma in Construction Management from the U.S. Army Engineer School in 2009. These diplomas reflect their specialized knowledge in surveying and construction management.

Anas pursued higher education and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Engineering, with a focus on System Reliability and Life Cycle Management, from The George Washington University in 2014. This degree demonstrates their expertise in systems engineering within the context of reliability and life cycle management.

Currently, Anas is enrolled in a doctoral program at Old Dominion University, where they are working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Engineering/Industrial Management. In addition to their formal education, Anas has also obtained multiple certifications. Anas became an Envision Sustainability Professional through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure in April 2016.
