Benjamin C.K. Tee

Benjamin C.K. Tee has a long and varied work experience. Benjamin C.K. started their career in 2006 as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering IMRE. In 2007, they joined the Bao Research Group as a Graduate Student, where they developed an understanding of elastomer based pressure sensors and designed, constructed and assembled an electro-mechanical test station. In 2011, they took the course Creating a Startup at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where they learnt about business models, market research, design thinking, opportunity analysis and team dynamics. In 2012, they completed a Design Thinking Bootcamp at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford and worked as a Research and Development Intern at Synaptics. In 2013, they worked as a Hardware Engineering Intern at Amazon Lab126. In 2014, they co-founded Privi Medical, which was later acquired. In 2017, they joined the National University of Singapore as an Associate Vice President, Vice Dean, Associate Professor and President's Assistant Professor, where they developed new materials, devices and systems for addressing the challenges in human-machine interactions, robotics and biotechnology applications for the AI and Robotics future. In 2019, they co-founded Hannah Life.

Benjamin C.K. Tee received a B.S.E in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan from 2003 to 2006. Benjamin C.K. then went on to Stanford University for an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from 2006 to 2007. Benjamin C.K. returned to Stanford University for their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD, which they completed in 2014. In 2020, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD from Stanford University and also attended Y Combinator.
