Heidi Fischer

Heidi Fischer, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. In 2001, they began their career as a University Ambassador and Receptionist at High Point University, where they represented the university at official functions and acted as a tour guide for prospective students. From 2005 to 2012, they worked as an Assistant Director of Academic Advising & International Student Services at UNCG. In this role, they provided advising support to students and assisted international students with their needs. Fischer then joined High Point University again in 2012, this time as the Director of Study Abroad & International Initiatives. During their tenure, they led a team in increasing exchange partnerships and study abroad participation. Heidi also developed policies, oversaw the unit's strategic direction, and managed a significant budget. Fischer also worked at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a staff member of the International Programs Center from 2017 to 2019. Heidi then joined Old Dominion University as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2018 to 2021 and later served as a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2021 to 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Research Director at Hanover Research.

Heidi Fischer, PhD, earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Higher Education from Old Dominion University from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs, International Politics, and International Economic Policy from American University between 2003 and 2005. Heidi also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in French and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in International Business from High Point University, where they studied from 2000 to 2003. In 1999 to 2001, they completed an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts at Randolph Community College.
