Senior Scientist Project Lead at Hansa Biopharma

Catja Freiburghaus has a diverse work experience in the field of biopharma and immunotechnology. Catja started their career as a laboratory technician at AnaMar Medical in 2000 and 2001. Catja then pursued their Master's studies while also taking a year off to work as Proqurator at Kristianstads Nation, where they were responsible for the economy and budgeting.

In 2006, they began their PhD in Food Technology at Lund University, focusing on a cooperation between the Department of Immunotechnology. Catja completed their PhD in 2010.

After completing their PhD, they joined Alligator Bioscience AB in 2012 as an Industrial Postdoc, working on the development of cellular assays for cancer immunotherapeutics. Catja then became a Research Scientist, participating in the pre-clinical development of a drug candidate for immunotherapy of cancer.

From 2014 to 2018, Catja worked at the Department of Immunotechnology at Lund University as a Postdoc. Catja'sresearch involved investigating drug resistance and post-treatment survival in Mantle Cell Lymphoma and B cell lymphomas. Catja also supervised PhD and master students during this time.

In 2018, they took a break from work for maternity leave until 2019.

Since 2019, Catja has been working at Hansa Biopharma. Catja started as a Scientist, where they developed assays and analyses to support pre-clinical and clinical activities. Catja was also involved in the planning and execution of Tech Transfer of analytical CMC methods. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist Project Lead, where they lead a gene therapy collaboration project with Sarepta Therapeutics and oversees in-house gene therapy research at Hansa. Catja is also involved in a pre-clinical project focusing on IgG cleaving enzymes for autoimmune diseases and cancer treatment.

Catja Freiburghaus began their education in 1997 at Katedralskolan Lund, where they studied Natural Sciences with a bilingual focus. Catja then went on to enroll at Lund University in 2000, earning a Master's Degree in Biomedicine by 2006. During their time at Lund University, they also completed a course in Business Economy in 2005. In 2005, they conducted their Diploma work for their Master thesis at the University of Aberdeen. From 2006 to 2010, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Food Technology at Lund University. Following this, in 2011, they took a course on Intellectual Property and Business Strategy at Blekinge Institute of Technology. In the same year, they also completed a course on Clinical trials and GCP at the Competence Centre for Clinical Research.
