Elizabeth Varhegyi, PhD

Elizabeth Varhegyi, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to the present. Elizabeth began their career in 2002 as a Naturalist, Secretary, and Summer Playgrounds Site Supervisor for the Fox Valley Park District. From 2010 to 2016, they were a Graduate Student and Lab Manager in the laboratory of Dr. Lijun Rong at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where they focused on molecular virology, specifically the entry mechanisms of influenza A virus, Ebola virus, and Marburg virus as well as anti-filoviral drug discovery. Since 2016, they have been a Procurement Operations Specialist for HappiLabs.org.

Elizabeth Varhegyi, PhD, obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology and Immunology with a focus in Virology from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2015. Prior to this, they completed a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Aurora University in 2009.
