Ryan McGinnis has held a variety of roles in academia and industry since 2016. From 2016 to 2022, they were an Associate Professor, Director of an Interdisciplinary Research Group on Translational Digital Health, Assistant Director of a Biomedical Engineering Program, Director of an M-Sense Research Group, Assistant Professor, and Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering Lecturer at the University of Vermont. In 2021 and 2022, they were a Scientific Advisor for Digital Endpoints at Pfizer and Solid Biosciences, respectively. In 2020, they were a Research & Development Consultant at Happy Health, a Member of the Board of Advisors at Respirosa, and a Scientific Advisor at Epicore Biosystems. In 2019, they co-founded PanicMechanic, an interactive app that uses the concept of biofeedback to coach users through panic attacks. In 2023, they will become a Co-Founder of JAM.ai. Additionally, in 2021, they became an Associate Editor of PLOS Digital Health.
Ryan McGinnis obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan between 2009 and 2013. Prior to this, they obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College between 2005 and 2009. In 2021, they attended the NSF Innovation Corps National Workshop.
