Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center (HIPRC)
Erik Philipson is a dedicated medical student at WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, starting in August 2024. With extensive experience as a research assistant at Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center since May 2016, Erik has contributed to a CDC-funded project focused on pediatric concussion, including manuscript preparation, data analysis, and IRB management. In addition, Erik has crafted public health outreach campaigns and managed communications for the research center. As a student investigator at the University of Washington, Erik collaborates with experienced mentors on various research initiatives. Erik holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Washington and graduated from The Bush School.

Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center (HIPRC) is a worldwide leader in injury cause and prevention research. Founded in 1985, we are affiliated with the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. We are committed to public engagement and strive to partner with impacted communities in achieving injury prevention and health equity across the lifespan. HIPRC is a joint initiative of the University of Washington School of Medicine and Harborview Medical Center. It is also a CDC-funded Injury Research and Control Center, or ICRC. The ICRC network is funded by the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control to find ways to prevent injury and violence. HIPRC is the only ICRC in the western half of the United States.
