- From November 2016 to May 2019, they worked as a Promotions Director at KGNU Community Radio, where they hosted a show and organized live music performances.

- From March 2016 to October 2016, they worked as an Assistant Teacher at Monarch Montessori of Denver.

- From April 2010 to February 2016, they worked as a Territory Manager at RUNA, focusing on expanding the reach of the company's tea products.

- In August 2011, they briefly worked as a Field Marketer at Honest Tea.

Sean Makau attended California State University-Sacramento from 2005 to 2006, where they studied photography. Sean then transferred to California State University, Chico in 2007 for small business management but did not complete a degree. Sean eventually enrolled at Humboldt State University from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on management.
