James Ratcliffe

James Ratcliffe is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in commercial and IT law. Currently serving as a Commercial Partner at Harper James since 2024, James previously held notable positions including Executive Legal Counsel for EMEA at Boston Consulting Group from 2021 to 2023, where accountability extended to client-contracting across multiple regions. Prior to BCG, James was the Legal Director for the UK and Ireland at Global, overseeing legal support for the out-of-home advertising sector, and also served as Legal Director, Commercial at Royal Mail, managing commercial and IP legal matters for a substantial legal portfolio. James's earlier roles at BT included Chief Counsel overseeing significant transformation initiatives and legal support for major transactions. James began a legal career at Allen & Overy as an Associate in Corporate Law after training at Addleshaw Sons & Latham. James holds a Law degree from the University of Cambridge, completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, and participated in the Executive Leadership Development Programme at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
