James Fortin has a strong background in structural engineering, with extensive experience in the field. James started their career as a Structural Engineer at Harriman in 1996 and worked in that role until 2006. Following this, they joined Becker Structural Engineers, Inc as a Senior Structural Engineer until 2015. In 2015, they transitioned to BASE Design Group, where they served as Vice President for a short period. Since 2015, James has been working at Harriman again, taking on progressively higher roles, including Associate, Senior Associate, and Principal. As of 2020, they hold the position of Principal, Chief Operations Officer, and Structural Engineer at Harriman.

James Fortin attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
