Maria Salazar has extensive experience in communications and media, currently serving as the Director of Digital Communications at Harris County Precinct 2 since October 2021, after holding multiple roles including Assistant Director of Communications and Communications Manager. Prior to this, Maria worked as a Reporter for Fox Television Stations and WFMZ-TV, as well as a Bilingual Reporter for Telemundo Atlanta. Precinct 2 encompasses nearly 560 square miles of east Harris County spanning from the back roads of Huffman to the bustling shops in Webster, the lucrative petrochemical plants in Baytown, and the unique small businesses of East Aldine. With over 1,300 miles of roads, 17 community centers, 15 municipalities, and 12 school districts within its boundaries, the sense of community is strong. Also unique to Precinct 2 is the number of access points to open water, as well as the only free public beach in Harris County – Sylvan Beach Park.
