Terence Wong ’09 is a strategy insights and planning associate consultant at ZS Associates, where he delivers innovative solutions to biomedical research, clinical development and medical affairs challenges for clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Prior to ZS, Wong was a clinical genomics analyst at Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine, where he analyzed whole genome sequencing data to identify genetic causes for rare disease in critically ill infants and developed strategic partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the rare disease space. In addition, he teaches a genetics course at UC San Diego Extension and volunteers as a Guardian Scholars mentor at Promises2Kids.
Wong earned a B.S. (chemistry and biology) from Harvey Mudd College, a PhD (biological and biomedical sciences with a concentration in cancer biology) from Harvard University and an MBA with a concentration in healthcare administration from National University. His doctoral dissertation research, completed at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, involved integrating large functional genomic datasets to identify and characterize novel genetic vulnerabilities in cancer. During his graduate studies, Wong served as vice chair and management and budget officer of the Broad Institute NextGen Association for Postdocs and Graduate Students, where he coordinated professional development activities for over 1,200 scientific trainees.
