Jon Nicholson

Jon Nicholson, PhD, has a diverse work experience in various roles. Jon worked as a Principal Solution Architect at Hastings Direct, where they focused on delivering quality change to the business. Jon also worked as a Solution Architect, leading projects such as enhancing usability and data capture, improving document handling, and integrating new technologies.

Prior to that, Jon worked as a Full Stack Developer at Community Brands UK, joining through TUPE when they acquired Assembly. Jon also held the role of Chief Technology Officer at ZiNET Data Solutions Limited, where they played a crucial role in the company's technology strategy.

Additionally, Jon has experience in academia, having worked as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Brighton. Jon led modules on professional skills, games, web and mobile development, and received nominations for an Excellence in Facilitating and Enhancing Learning award.

Earlier in their career, Jon worked as a Consultant Developer at SchoolsICT Limited, specializing in using the Systems Interoperability Framework (SIF) in schools. Jon also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Essex, supporting teaching and learning of first-year students in information systems and database-related modules.

Jon Nicholson, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of Computer Science. Jon obtained a PhD in Computer Science (Formal Software Engineering) from the University of Essex from 2006 to 2011. Prior to their doctoral studies, they earned an MSc in Computer Science from the same institution in 2005 to 2006, followed by a BSc in Computer Science from 2002 to 2005. In 2012 to 2013, they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate (PGC) in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at the University of Brighton. Additionally, Jon has obtained certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft and Developing Applications in IBM Datacap V9.1.7 from IBM in 2021.
