Kirk Fernandes has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and media. Kirk started their career as a Producer at KITV in 1997 and later worked as a Producer/Reporter at KHON-TV from 1997 to 2005. In 2005, they briefly served as a Lecturer at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. From 2006 to 2007, they worked as an Associate Producer at Boston Science Communications. Kirk then joined ABC News as a Producer from 2007 to 2009. Following that, they worked as a Producer at The Dr. Oz Show from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, they joined Hawaii Permanente Medical Group and held various positions such as Director of Executive and Internal Communications, Director of Communications and Community Relations, and currently serves as the Senior Director of Communications and Community Relations.
Kirk Fernandes earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Japanese Language from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, from 1992 to 1996. Kirk later pursued an M.S. degree in Science and Medical Journalism from Boston University, from 2005 to 2006.
