Substitute Musician at Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra

Johnathan De Soto Jr is an accomplished musician and educator currently serving as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College since January 2023, specializing in low brass applied lessons. In addition to academic roles, Johnathan De Soto Jr holds multiple positions as a Substitute Musician with prominent orchestras, including the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, and Maui Pops Orchestra. Experience in teaching music includes a tenure as a Music Instructor at Chuck James Music Studio from April 2017 to December 2021 and a current role as a Lessons Associate at Guitar Center since April 2019. Academic credentials include a Master’s of Music in Orchestral Conducting and a Master’s in Orchestral Instrument Performance in Tuba from Pittsburg State University, as well as a Bachelor of Music Performance in Tuba from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Johnathan De Soto Jr has been a part-time musician with the Royal Hawaiian Band since November 2016, showcasing a diverse and extensive background in music performance and education.
